Marathon Prize Money (Open Category)

To match the prestige of the event, which once again integrates the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Marathon Championships, the marathon boasts an impressive guaranteed prize pot. The total rewards for the Open Category (Male and Female) will be distributed to the top five finishers as follows:

  • 1st Place: R80 000
  • 2nd Place: R45 000
  • 3rd Place: R20 000
  • 4th Place: R13 000
  • 5th Place: R10 000

Time Performance Incentives

In a bold move to encourage blistering paces and potential new course records, organizers have introduced substantial Time Performance Incentives for both the Men’s and Women’s elite races.

Men’s Incentives:

  • New Course Record: A bonus of R25 000.00 will be awarded for finishing under 02:09:32.
  • Sub 02:09:00: Athletes breaking this barrier will earn a R20 000.00 bonus.
  • Sub 02:08:00: Athletes breaking this barrier will earn a R30 000.00 bonus.
  • Sub 02:07:00: A massive R45 000.00 bonus awaits anyone breaking the two-hour, seven-minute mark.

Women’s Incentives:

  • New Course Record: A bonus of R25 000.00 will be awarded for finishing under 02:29:46.
  • Sub 02:29:00: Athletes breaking this barrier will earn a R20 000.00 bonus.
  • Sub 02:28:00: Athletes breaking this barrier will earn a R30 000.00 bonus.
  • Sub 02:27:00: A top-tier R45 000.00 bonus is on the line for breaking two hours and twenty-seven minutes.
