Durban International Marathon

The Durban International Marathon has officially partnered with Hulamin, a leading aluminium manufacturing company in South Africa. This collaboration will span three years and aims to enhance the overall experience of the marathon.

Hulamin Limited, which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), boasts a legacy of nearly 90 years, having been established in 1935. The company has evolved from its origins as “AL-CAN” into a significant player in the aluminium industry, serving both local and international markets. They operate from four key locations in KwaZulu-Natal, including an aluminium rolling mill and extrusion plants in Pietermaritzburg, as well as a cast house in Richards Bay.

Hulamin is committed to corporate social responsibility through its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Programme, focusing on youth development, education, health and welfare, and environmental protection. The partnership with the Durban International Marathon is expected to further the company’s efforts in promoting health and wellness within the community.

Steve Mkasi, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the Durban International Marathon, commented on the partnership: “We are excited to welcome Hulamin on board. Their commitment to community upliftment aligns with the values of the marathon, and we look forward to collaborating to create positive experiences for athletes and participants.”

This partnership not only underscores Hulamin’s dedication to fostering active lifestyles but also enhances the infrastructure and support available for one of South Africa’s premier marathon events. Further details regarding the initiatives resulting from this collaboration will be shared in due course.
