The Durban International Marathon organizing committee is thrilled to announce that the highly anticipated fifth edition of the Durban International Marathon will take place on Sunday, 4 May 2025.

Renowned as a launching pad for both local and international talent, the Durban International Marathon has gained a reputation for producing exceptional runners. Former winners like Lesotho’s Tebello Ramakongoana, Zimbabwe’s Isaac Mpofu as well as South Africans Cian Oldknow and Elroy Galant are prime examples of the race’s legacy, as they prepare to compete at the Paris Olympics this year. Their journeys highlight the marathon’s ability to unearth talent and propel athletes onto larger stages, inspiring a new generation of runners.

With 14 countries expected to contest the World Ranking points for this regional championship, participants will be vying for acclaim and recognition as they race through the breathtaking scenery and vibrant communities of Durban. The race’s flat and fast route provides an ideal setting for personal bests, making it a favourite among runners seeking to improve their times.

Additionally, the Durban International Marathon serves as a qualifying race for the iconic Comrades Marathon, further solidifying its significance in the South African running calendar.
